Our mission

The Atalaya Foundation, which coordinates the CUMA project, was established at the end of 2014. Our goal is to create a safe space where youth can fulfill their needs regarding their development and growth. It is especially addressed to  teenagers who are part of the foster care system.

What we do?

The activities of the Atalaya Foundation are aimed at supporting a young person from foster care (children’s home or foster family) in entering adulthood. We work mainly with young people aged 14-25, creating individual development plans with them and supporting them in achieving their educational, professional and relationship goals. The established Center for Youth Empowerment Atalaya (CUMA) is a response to the need of young people to establish a stable, time-bound relationship, to build resources to undertake the challenges of adult life in an independent and empowered way.

We work in the area of education, assisting our mentees with finding and fulfilling their own unique path. All of our educational and developmental programs are created based on the needs of our participants. Furthermore, we practice various innovative teaching methods and we value an active approach towards learning, as well as responsibility for one’s own growth.

We operate in the spirit of Non-Violent Communication, and are fond of constant development, discovering new methods of work, and then combining them together. Reaching for a variety of developmental methods, we are capable of adjusting our programs and strategies to meet the individual needs of our mentees. Our teem of experienced psychologists and specialists always finds time to grow through specialized courses and participate in group supervisions.
