Take a Dare: Borderless!
Regional Civil Society Initiative 8/2022 – 12/2023
Organizer: FO Czech Republic, Skautsky Institute
Partners: Fundacja Atalaya Poland, Zavod BOB Slovenia
Active Citizens Fund project in Czech Scouting Institute.
The project aims:
- to connect with a few European NGOs that work with youth adults
- to share the good practice and knowledge-based findings regarding the work with young adults
- to explore a significant European event (e.g. a conference) together and broaden our horizons
- to visit each other and process a job shadowing experience
- to create a inspirational tool, that will help us and other NGOs work with young adults more effectively
The Initiative Take a Dare: Borderless! belongs to a long-term strategy of Czech Scouting Institute focused on a newly defined development stage of life called emerging adulthood. We create programs for young adults that support self-realization, personal growth and civic mobilization in public space.
The aim of this regional initiative is to explore the emerging adulthood phenomenon from the professional perspective of European youth organizations and compare the good practice and knowledge-based findings with the situation in Czech Republic. Together we can improve our young adults oriented tools for their activation and empowerment.
The first stage consists of researching, choosing and addressing 3 to 5 partners from young adult empowerment oriented organizations (including socially disadvantaged groups). Next step is to choose proper activities and opportunities (conference, job shadowing, meeting) that would be beneficial for engaged partners. Through mutual sharing, brainstorming and inspiration we will in the final stage create and/or improve our methodological tools on how to work better and more effectively with young adults and provide these tools for broader use and examination.
We anticipate some beneficial side-effects of the initiative, such as significant improvement in the networking field of all the participants, development and/or betterment of skills relevant to the emerging adulthood topic and valuable experience that helps us broaden our professional horizons.
3rd International Conference of the Jarce Youth Home: CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES OF WORKING WITH AT-RISK YOUTH
9th – 11th of June 2023
Radenci, Slovenia
We were at an international conference in Slovenia on contemporary challenges in working with young people at risk of social exclusion. On the surface, a picture emerged in which the key topic to be addressed nowadays is the mental health of young people – regardless of the country.
This is confirmed not only by the UNICEF report, where we recommend an interactive presentation of global data and the possibility to compare the results in Poland with any country or global results, but also by the recently published report ‘Young Heads’.
We are delighted that a topic we have been paying close attention to since the beginning is resounding as a priority on the European stage.
Together with partners from the Czech Republic and Slovenia, we gathered inspiration, exchanged experiences and reflected on what and how to share with other youth work professionals in order to enrich our daily work and make the support we offer even more effective.
